Annual safety inspections are required to drive a commercial vehicle legally and safety. When a commercial motor vehicle or trailer is found to be in an unsafe condition it endangers other people on the highway. The vehicle may be prohibited until the required repairs are completed. Commercial drivers and companies that fail to comply with these requirements may be fined to $ 20,000. If the deficiencies are severe enough, an officer will remove the plates, inspection stickers and impound the vehicle.
If you operate a truck or trailer in Ontario, you are required to undergo regular safety inspections, which are intended to prevent any mechanical defects before they cause a problem or collision. The goal is to improve the safety of highways and performed on annual basis. When the truck passes the required safety checks, it is given a yellow sticker. It has to be displayed prominently where the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario can see it.
