Annual Safety (PMCVI)

Annual safety inspections are required to drive a commercial vehicle legally and safety. When a commercial motor vehicle or trailer is found to be in an unsafe condition it endangers other people on the highway.  The vehicle may be prohibited until the required repairs are completed.  Commercial drivers and companies that fail to comply with these requirements may be fined to $ 20,000.  If the deficiencies are severe enough, an officer will remove the plates, inspection stickers and impound the vehicle. 

If you operate a truck or trailer in Ontario, you are required to undergo regular safety inspections, which are intended to prevent any mechanical defects before they cause a problem or collision.  The goal is to improve the safety of highways and performed on annual basis.  When the truck passes the required safety checks, it is given a yellow sticker.  It has to be displayed prominently where the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario can see it. 

To administer compliance with commercial vehicle regulations, we have developed a comprehensive checklist that we use to examine your equipment according to the MTO standards for safety.  We will maintain or repair the power train, suspension, braking system, steering, lamps/lights, electrical system, body, tires, wheels and auxiliary equipment. 

If you undertake Preventative Maintenance you’ll no doubt pass your MTO safety inspections.

The PMP (Preventative Maintenance Program) is a proactive way to ensure that your heavy vehicles are safe for your drivers and maximize your operational efficiency.  It’s the best way to protect your equipment from unscheduled downtime as it prevents problems from happening in the first place.  We can create and track a regular inspection schedule that means that your fleet will have less down time and that your trucks are on the road making you money. 

The PMP provides for regular inspections during which the mechanic checks the various components of your vehicle, and takes care of all necessary adjustments, repairs, lubrications or replacements. As a result, your vehicle will stay in better condition, thus reducing major damage, breakdown risks, extended downtime and delivery delays as well as breakdown, repair and operating costs. 

As part of a regular tune-up, we’ll get to know your truck inside and out, which means that we can anticipate issues before they occur.  We can proactively repair any problems so that it always meets the standards for safe and efficient functioning.
